It's the winter solstice today. After tonight, the days get longer, offering more sunlight and hours for wandering. Today is also my parents' wedding anniversary. We always make jokes that they chose to get married on the shortest day of the year. Maybe it's because I bought food for Christmas Eve this morning and I'm feeling much better towards the world, but the shortest day of the year is in a way a beacon of hope. After today, everything gets brighter. More sunlight, more joy. More to look forward to.
