this weekend

I work one week/weekend a month outside of my painting.  It's a killer gig that allows me a lot the opportunity to strut my stuff.  The rest of the month I can paint, be a wife, and serve within my community.  It's a win-win.  Since I work specific events, my dates are set.  No changing, swapping with coworkers, nothin'. Since I love it, this really isn't such a big deal!  But somehow, the really exciting things always seem to happen in Atlanta during these weekends.  Like the Atlanta Jazz Festival or the Summerfest in the neighborhood of Virginia Highland.  I missed camp with my church girls, which was the biggest bummer to date.  All of the preparation and I didn't get to spend time with the girls...dang!

Then this weekend hit.  The weekend I'm in the middle of working.  And guys,  I'm missing even more and it makes me so sad.  And it's not just art festivals, but let's face it, we should always be sad when we miss one of those!  No, this time it's the big stuff.

- the FIFA World Cup Final (GO GERMANY!!!)
- a day at the temple with some dear friends for their sealing
- my husband, who is with family in Florida
- Sista Bear's farewell in Florida before she leaves next week for her mission

I dropped Mr. F at the airport after we both got off work on Friday and it finally hit me how sad it is to miss these milestones.  During the summer, I squeezed in a few trips to see her more before she left, and I am so glad I did! I really don't know when we'll all live this close together again, especially after she gets home in a year and a half!  No, I said my goodbyes to her a few weeks ago as we hugged curbside after an amazing week together.  I'm sad I can't be there to support her.   I don't know if she realizes what an example to me she is, of faithfulness, courage, talent, moxy, and style.  This weekend, I just wanted to support her.  So she has her brother and I can only imagine how much they will laugh together.

So family, send me photos, please.  Sista, I love you!  And someone, for the love of all that is good and holy, text me game updates on Sunday!  (:
