ode to goodwill

I hardly shop in "real" stores anymore.  Sure, I go to the grocery store and Costco.  But that's about it.  For clothing and home decorating items, more and more I am turning to a local source.  Goodwill.  I've always been a thrifter, but for some reason the Goodwill stores of North Georgia are better than anything I've experienced.  There are multiple locations in the area and each have their virtues.  My absolute favorite, however, is located in Buckhead.  This place is a honey hole of awesomeness.

Slowly but surely, I am revamping my wardrobe with good, solid staple pieces.  Almost all of them are thrifted.  I love doing this because I am able to get good quality items for a fraction of the cost.  A few weeks ago, I found a pair of lightly warn Cole Haan shoes for Mr. F for only $6.  Can you believe that!

My current Goodwill obsession is this lightweight L.L. Bean coat that I got for $9.  It is a lightweight wool, perfect for the mild winters of the Atlanta area.  It never gets really cold, but definitely gets cool enough for layers.  So I throw on my favorite scarf, a sweater, skinnies, and bam!  I feel like a really cute, modern version of Doris Day.  What's so wrong about that?! Nothing.  That's what.  Anything that makes you feel like Doris Day is worth its weight in gold, let alone a measly $9.

So there ya have it.  Goodwill comes to the rescue again!  Have you been thrifting lately?  Any good finds?
