You may have noticed that there haven't been a whole lot of new additions to the shop lately. There's a really good reason for that. I've been too busy! What with? Well, by and large, these cute houses! Most of them have been housewarming gifts for friends moving into new houses and starting new adventures. Sometimes I paint the new house, sometimes the house the owner is leaving behind.
For one woman, I painted the above house. She was moving into the city but was leaving this suburban abode behind. It was the house she raised her boys in. Graduated and on adventures of their own, this sweet momma was ready for her own change of scenery but was full of emotion about brick walls at the end of a cul-de-sac.
Houses are such funny things. They're wood and brick, drywall and paint. But they can be so much more. First steps, first dreams. Heartbreaks, late nights working on homework. The perfect backdrop for swing sets, or just big enough for pillow forts. Very physical dwellings that hold so much emotion. Houses can be homes.
I have loved these pieces for that reason. They aren't just houses. They are someone's home. Dream, first, new, old, theirs. It's such a wonderful thing!
I have had a lot of requests for these houses and have decided to open it up to a wait list. They are $100 for 8x10 original watercolors. The wait list will be on a first come, first serve basis. Email me front view photos of your home and a favorite memory. (: For more information or to be added to the list, send a message to seewhatiseadesigns (at) gmail (dot) com.
