my hips don't lie

{blouse: costco..I think..about 10 years ago...maybe?  belt: Mr. F's  skirt: Talbot's  slingback pumps: Joan&David via Nordstrom many many moon ago}

In the past year, my body has changed.  A lot.  Clothes that used to fall off of me don't fit.  Shirts I've owned for nearly a decade are beginning to pinch at the shoulders.  When we moved overseas, I was about the tiniest I have ever been, and not necessarily in a good way.  So plumping up a bit isn't such a bad thing.  The problem has arisen from the way my body has changed while filling out again.  My already bootylicious badonkadonk is now paired up with some seriously serious hips, making the badonkadonk even more bodacious.  This womanly body I'm developing is making me rethink the clothes I wear while being true to my sense of style.  My love of pencil skirts has been tempered by a necessity for A-lines, and more form fitting bermuda shorts are giving way to higher waistbands, the only way I've been able to find room for the hips and the smaller waist.  I won't lie, this has been a really frustrating process, causing me to want to hide in sweats all day every day with gnarly hair.  But I am figuring it out and siga, siga I am starting to appreciate my body in all of its voluptuousness.  Sure, I'm making a few trips to donate clothes that just won't slide on anymore, but that's also leaving room in the closet for new bargain finds, and that's such a bad thing either.

Thank you everyone for your notes, comments, and messages after Monday's post.  We are both on the mend and awaiting further instruction.  I needed to write that post to remember that things aren't always perfect.  Your faith, prayers, and thoughts have been such a boon to both of us and I don't think I'll ever be able to thank each of you enough.

  1. My nephew has repeatedly referred to me as Princess Badonkadonk so I feel like I know where you're coming from. I haven't always embraced my curves but now I really wouldn't have it any other way! (:
