favorite things

So it's not the world's greatest picture of me, but it had to be done.  It encapsulates my wardrobe lately and the items I just love beyond reason.

First, my white button up.  I think I inherited a taste for this in equal part from my father and Ralph Lauren.  The Tall Guy always wears white shirts and claims to never feel properly dressed until donned in white.  I am definitely my father's daughter in this sense.  Six out of seven days of the week you will without fail find me in white.  It's what I do..

Black stretchy pants.  To normal people these are known as leggings.  To me these are the, "I feel skinny and can move easily while I paint, bake, and clean" pants.  (Black stretchy pants is a lot shorter, so I usually go with that.)  I'll put on a pair of jeans to go out, and will jump back into these as soon as I walk in the door.  They're so comfy!

So I have this weird thing where I don't feel dressed for the day without earrings and at least one bracelet.  I will be wearing my black stretchy pants and a baggy sweatshirt and will still have earrings and a bracelet on.  These two accessories  make me feel wonderfully feminine.  Sadly, I lack adventure in the bauble department.  It's always a combination of pearl and sterling silver.  If I'm feeling excessively bold, I'll throw in a bit of sparkle. 

My Vera Bradley bag.  That bag and I have had many adventure together.  It's been to several weddings, including my own.  Moved across the ocean.  And reminded me that every so often, a girl just needs some pink and a giant bag to carry all of her books.

Lastly, my apron.  For years this hung in my childhood bedroom as a cheery piece of wall art.  Now it is my absolute favorite accessory!  I love how girly it is, how I can tie it about the middle and give myself a figure, how I never get paint, dust, or flour on me anymore.  And it's just so darn happy!  Pale buttery yellow with wispy roses.

I found this post sitting in the "Draft" folder written over a year ago from our first flat in Nicosia.  It was a fun memory of day to day life for me there and a great reminder that even on the other side of the planet, in drastically different circumstances, I'm still doing the same things.  Vera's in the closet, ready for her next adventure, bracelets jingle on my wrist as I type.  A different apron is wrapped around me and even in the crazy heat of a Florida summer, I'm wearing button-ups and black stretchy pants.  Old habits die hard, I guess!
