savannah

After Mr. F's interview in Atlanta at the beginning of August, we decided to take the scenic route home and spend a few hours in city neither of us had visited before, Savannah, Georgia.  This city is everything that is wonderful about the South, historic about the East, and fudgy of the tourist location.  Common squares  pop up every few blocks and are thick with lush trees and foliage.  Horse drawn carriages drive past as the drivers explain the significance of the myriad of sculptures.  As if the buildings, older than this country, weren't wonderful enough, I think I could spend the rest of my days investigating the Savannah art scene.  Home to the Savannah College of Art and Design, the destinations are endless.  Theaters, galleries, handicraft shops, fabric boutiques, and campus buildings scattered throughout town.

It felt very much like one of our European adventures as we hurried down cobbled streets, trying to see as much as possible.  Sadly, we only had two hours before we had to hit the road again and come home.  I would gladly go back without a second thought and am really hoping we end up somewhere in the South so I can make that dream a more accessible reality.

  1. As a style blogger, I ooh'd and aah'd at several of these pictures. Looks like many of these old buildings and open spaces would be perfect for outfit shooting, haha. I think I'd love this city. I've seen a docu once about several cities in the south-eastern states, mostly Louisiana though, and have been aching to go there ever since. xo
