Hi, my name is Bekka, and I have a potted plant obsession. Like seriously. It started with the fern in the first picture. You know, the fern in the urn that also inspired my new career as a Dr. Seuss impersonator? Well, then I found the cute rope handled, galvanized buckets in the Target dollar bin. And just for the record, they were $3 each, not $1, but still! So, I saw the buckets and said to myself, "Self, you could grow herbs in them there buckets on your kitchen table." So I bought them. Then I made my life harder than it needed to be by looking for herbs everywhere else but Trader Joe's. Even the local nursery. Theirs were sad. Trader Joe's? Beautiful. And half the price. Need I say more?
So, I bought herbs.
And while I was at it, I bought potted daffodils and tulips. (The tulips are in our bathroom and it's pretty near impossible to get a good photo in that room. Probably for good reason..) Then I went to Publix for hot dogs and ended up with a potted hyacinth. And can I tell you something? I might need to buy hyacinth bulbs in bulk and grow them alllllll the time, because daggum does my house smell fabulous!
When I finally took down the Christmas tree, I was craving something fresh and new. I loved the idea of potted blooms and greens that will constantly breathe life into our little home, much like fresh cut flowers, but without having to buy more flowers every week. Besides the luscious smell of the hyacinth, I'm absolutely obsessed with my potted herbs. The buckets reflect light in a relatively gloomy corner and the greens add useful texture and life. Win, win, win, win, win! Plus, now I don't have to go buy fresh herbs all the time for dinner! Wahooo!
So maybe it's cabin fever, or winter doldrums. Or maybe, I just cracked the code on making a space cozy! ? Probably cabin fever, but let's just go with me being a decorating genius for a minute, okay? Thanks, guys.
On a totally unrelated note, did you see my cool new lamp in the daffodil photo? The lantern with the Edison bulb inside? Yeah. I found that at Goodwill. I love that place, man. Love it.
