dear fifteen year-old me
Dear Fifteen Year-old Me,
Hi.
It's Me, Nearly Thirty Year-old Me, or You. Us? Anyway, it's Me. I was thinking about you the other night. I was driving home from vacation with our husband (yes, you get married you goob!) and we were listening to music you love right now. We were singing for hours on this late night drive, sharing memories and stories with one another. And you know what? All I could think of was You. Writing this letter and telling you one little thing.
It gets so much better.
What does? Everything. Things look bleak right now, I understand. You feel lonely, scared about Mom's cancer, and worried about grades. You have feelings you don't know what to do with. In a couple of years you'll get much needed help and realize you have Depression. Once you work through that, things get awesome. You develop amazing friendships, learn a second language...kind of..., read a lot, draw a lot, paint even more. You live overseas multiple times, live in parts of the U.S. you never thought you would. The best part?
You marry your best friend. People are going to tell you to do this and it sticks and you do it. And it's awesome. Marriage is hard, complicated, and messy, but it's also the most fun you will ever have. He's awesome and don't lose sight of that. Don't lose sight of who you are, because you're awesome.
So, Me, things get better. So. Much. Better!
oceans,
Me.
P.S. You haven't happened to hear from 45 Year-old Us have you? I'm so curious what she has to say about the next 15 years!
